MISSION

Safe Roads. Smart Growth. Sound Leadership.

Charleston’s greatest resources are its people and its land. It is Jenny’s goal, through effective policymaking, to achieve balance between enhancing quality of life for county residents while at the same time preserving what makes Charleston so desirable.

Safe Roads

We need safe roads. Our road systems must be able to meet the needs of those here currently and those who are moving to Charleston. Jenny supports the completion of 526 to alleviate the congestion suffered by thousands of residents in District 9 and our neighbors on Johns Island and in West Ashley.

As our County Council Member, Jenny has worked to see the Highway 17 fly-over going to bid at the end of the year and realize new, safe interchanges and sidewalks. Through the Rethink Folly Road Plan, significant improvements are being made for the everyday experience of pedestrians, bicyclists, motorist, and transit riders of all ages and abilities.

Smart Growth

We need smart growth. As the Lowcountry continues to remain attractive to new industries, growth is inevitable. Jenny understands that we need to implement forward-thinking growth strategies that anticipate the needs of our community, not simply respond to problems after they arise.

Smart growth also means preserving greenspace and passive parks. As our County Council Member, Jenny has worked to do just that, including with Fort Pemberton, Brantley Park, and Buck Park. Jenny has also worked to update building codes to address flooding and make ZLDR revisions to address attainable housing needs.

Sound Leadership

We need sound leadership. While county government is to be commended for its delivery of essential services, County Council has the responsibility to seek out opportunities for efficiency and hold government office accountable for wasteful spending. As our member of County Council, Jenny has fought for and will continue to fight for fiscal responsibility and the protection of our hard-earned tax dollars.

Furthermore, Jenny understands that it is critical for council members to work together to achieve the goals and address the real needs of the entire county. She knows that, for District 9, that means having a team player at the table who can build relationships get things done. As our member of County Council, Jenny has provided and will continue to provide sound leadership, advocate for our barrier islands, build consensus, and get results.
